wow, its been awhile...
So, I haven't blogged in awhile.
My main excuse is the one year old that occupies much, if not all, of my free time; no complaints there!
I also began a new job this summer, which has been a good learning experience for me and I think good for me in other ways as well.
I also have to blame MySpace a little, it has monopolized some time, although I am not too satisfied with the blogging tool there, so I thought I would get back to this one. I can also point to the many distractions of the internet now that we have broadband (thank the gods for broadband), I have been playing alot of 1 hour free trial games.
Yeah, I am a nerd.
Here are some highlights of the past year, also known as AJ1 (after Jude 1):
May: We finally got to take the little guy home after 2.5 weeks in the NICU and 1.5 weeks rooming in the Pediatric Unit. He came home just in time for Mother's Day.
June, July: a blur of feeding, pumping, changing, and trying to get decent sleep. Jude continued to do very well.
August: More feeding, pumping, pooping, changing, and smiles! Jude became much more lively and was beginning to show real personality. We took him to a Mariner's game, along with Nana Marr and Great-Grandma Cummins. I realized I had post-partum depression symptoms and went on meds and began to feel MUCH better.
September: Lance and I returned to work. Jude began to spend time with our friend Angela and her youngest son Kian. Kian was not too happy to see us that first week, but he quickly warmed up and now LOVES Jude.
October: Jude got a mystery illness, probably just a virus, but had a weekend hospital stay that included: a spinal tap, a MRI, many blood draws, antibiotics, and the diagnosis of "hydrocephelus". Thus began the monthly trips to Spokane to see Dr. Gruber. However, Dr. Gruber told us that it was highly unlikely that Jude had hydrocephelus. A pretty roller-coastery month. We also got the super amazing Jumperoo. Jude LOVED it.
November: Thanksgiving.
December: The holidays. Jude gots lots of cool stuff!
January: When is January ever that interesting?
February: Wrestling season ended, yay. Lance had a birthday (29 again!), and we got the diffinative diagnosis of Jude just having a large head, probably because his parents do. No surgery, phew.
March: Jude rolls from place to place, no interest in crawling.
April: Jude turns one. I manage to organize a small family gathering and it was really nice. Jude is scooting along in army crawl fashion.
May: I had come weird virus much of the month and felt like crap. Jude was having a lot of fun army crawling and pulling up on very low items like baskets.
June: I decided to apply for a new job, as I realized I could not really continue to work at a non-profit. Walla Walla County hired me and I began on the 25th. The extra money is awesome, although I now work normal hours and spend less time away from Jude. We went to Spokane for a short trip to celebrate.
July: I turned 33, Jude is pulling up and cruising, and we discover our AC is leaking under our laminate floors. This begins the saga of the house filed with loud fans and dehumidifiers, all our donwstairs furniture is in the garage, and Lance dealt with the myriad of calls to insurance and vendors. We learn we are getting new floors and living room carpet (bonus, I hated the rust carpet.) We all travel to Packwood, near Mt. Rainier for a family reunion and Jude first visit to Longmire at Mt. Rainier. We have pics to prove it too.
August: Still no floors. Will be put in first week of September. Yay!
That pretty much is the last year. Lots of feeding baby, and changing diapers. Pretty good times, really.
